Lift-off from Nice Airport

Lift-off from Nice Airport

Andrew Bowman

Travel to me is all about the spikes that break the mundane. Seeing new places and experiencing the quirky the odd and the unusual. Make the point when you travel of doing something that scares and excites you.

Try arriving in Monte Carlo by helicoptor. The irony of stepping off a budget flight at Nice Airport, to be whisked away in a chopper isn't lost. For around 70 Euros - 3 times the cost of the 2 hour flight from the UK - you can leave your fellow 'Easyjetters' and step into the celebrity world - if only for 15 minutes!

Once checked in you'll be sped to the South side of the main runway to a row of helicopter pick & drop points - like glamourous bus stops. Within seconds the chopper lands and the pilot will wave you aboard.

That first Heli-lift is a stomach churning, thrilling experience. The flight is scheduled for around 6 minutes (compared with the 60 minutes transfer Nice - Monaco by road), don't miss the stunning views along the Cote d'azur, sharp blue sea and the occassional dolphin.

As you turn the corner towards the principality, once again cameras at the ready as the hillside packed with millionaires and their trappings looms large.

The experience doesn't even stop on landing - as part of the cost you will be transferred to your acommodation by way of luxury black Mercedes.

So join the jet-set, flash the cash - arrive in Monaco by helicpter at least once in your life!
