According to the first definite census results which have been announced Monday by the State Statistical Office there are 564.296 households and 698.143 dwellings. From the total number of population, 467.257 or 23,1% live in Skopje.
International experts group, which monitored the census data processing has concluded that it is successfully and professionally conducted obeying the international standards. They have assessed that the data have been announced quickly having in mind that it was large operation.
The results from the latest census in 1994 showed that from a total of 1.935.034 citizens in Macedonia, 67% were Macedonians, 22,4% were Albanians, 3,4% were Turks, 2,3% were Roma, 0,4% were Vlachs and 2% were Serbs.
