Pazaislis Music Festival
The biggest musical event in Lithuania is the Pazaislis music festival. Visitors can enjoy the festivities for 3 months: June, July and August. The number of performances at the Pazaislis Festival grows constantly. Some of the artists are figures like Jacques Loussier, Andre Arpino, Benoit Dunoyer de Segonzac and Aleksander Paley, among others. The most outstanding Lithuanian musical styles are also featured at the festival. There are also drama performances carried out at the Kaunas castle, located near the convergence of Kauna's two rivers Nemunas and Neris. There are many Kauna's festivals, however, Pazaislis has the best jazz music.
City's day in Kaunas
This is one of the most famous cultural events in Kaunas. It's carried out on the 20th of May every year because in 1463 King Kazimieras Jogailaitis renovated and extended the urban rights. The main events are done on the streets and the old quarters plazas on May 18th, 19th and 20th. The city livens up, and the citizens gather to look at the street fairs and shops, with the noise of local music. There are costume parades, theatre processions, fairs and street stalls. The celebration's main objective is to improve Kauna and Lithuania's image in the world.
Modern Dance International Festival
The festival of the "Aura" dance is the most unique modern dance theatre in Kaunas. This is the oldest and most important theatre in Kaunas. The Aura spectacles have been presented and have won in various festivals abroad during 1988 until 2007. People are delighed by the many musical perfomances. Tourists can catch a glipse of Kaunas music and history, by attending Kaunas Festivals and looking at the dances.
