River Nemunas flows through the city of Kaunas, and when here in summer, don’t miss the chance to visit some of the Kaunas beaches to have a swim and to have a refreshment from the summer sun. Kaunas is settled in the central Lithuania, and it is quite an interesting and charming place to see. With great history around every corner, tourists will probably need many days to see it all. Here are some beaches that shouldn't be missed:

Panemunes Park Beach

This beach is the closest one from the city center and probably the most famous one. It is settled on the loop of Nemunas River on the edge of the amazing Panemune Park. Reaching this beach is really easy on foot. Let the start point be the “Mollas” mall. If the tourists can’t manage the walk, they can just get a taxi in the city center and in 10 minutes they can get to the beach.

Kaunas Reservoir Beach

Kaunas Reservoir Beach is located on the banks of Pažaislis Park, just next to the Pažaislis church and monastery complex. This beach has the purest water and the beach is the nicest of all Kaunas beaches. People usually come here by car, and there is a big parking space just in front of the park. In the summer, the city trolley buses come this way. The Reservoir of Kaunas is an artificial lake, the biggest one in Lithuania. It was created back in 1959 when the dam was put on the Nemunas River. This lake serves the power plant and produces electricity for 80% of Lithuania. There are number of activities on the beach and in the park, and tourists with kids can be assured that the kids will be safe. There is a special swimming pool for kids.

Lampedžiai Lake Beach

The west part of Kaunas has this amazing lake beach. This is just a small lake, and Lampedziai Park is all around, so tourist can always hide in the shade if the sun is too hot. Locals mostly come here in the summer, and this place is easy to reach by car or taxi. There are even some city buses that come here. For a more private atmosphere, one can just go to the other side of the lake.
