7 Day Itinerary in Lido di Jesolo

Edit This

The resort town of Lido di Jesolo, Italy is famous for one feature in particular, its 10 miles of beautiful sandy beaches. The traveler looking to relax and enjoy the sun would be hard pressed to find a better location. The one drawback to the area is that there aren't many cultural activities available, making a Lido di Jesolo itinerary a bit of a challenge.

Day 1- Beach

A visitor to Lido di Jesolo should take advantage of the beautiful beach area that extends for miles. The area has a resort feel with shops, restaurants and services that cater to the tourist, not the sightseer. Lido di Jesolo does provide the perfect atmosphere to soak up the sun and swim in the blue waters of the sea.

Day 2- Venice

One of the most common day tips for people tired of the sand, sun and sea is to travel to Venice. There are basically 3 ways to get to Venice from Lido di Jesolo. The most convenient method is to rent a car for a day and drive the 45 minute journey. Most travelers opt for the ATVO bus which travels all the way to Piazzale Roma, Venice's Central Bus station. The more adventurous at heart may wish to take the Moby Dick 2. This is a direct boat service to Venice which leaves from Jesolo Beach.

Day 3- Burano

Those looking to take in some area history may wish to travel to the island of Burano. It's famous for its lace making and multicolored fisherman's houses that line the streets. Burano is worth the trip, with its scenic beauty and rich history. Burano can be reached by taking the Moby Dick 2 boat from Jesolo and continuing on. One can also  take the bus to Venice and catch the ACTV Ferry, which leaves every half hour.

Day 4- Torcello

Torcello is another island in the Venetian Lagoon and neighbor to Burano. It's described as one of the most atmospheric islands with the rows of mudflats, marshes and primitive setting. The island seems nearly deserted but brings a quiet, relaxing break from the crowds of Jesolo and Venice. One of the easiest ways to visit Torcello is to travel to Venice and take the ACTV ferry. It will stop first in Burano and continue on for a total journey of about 42 minutes.

Day 5- Murano

Those interested in Venetian glass making will want to visit the island of Murano. In 1291, nearly all the glass furnaces in Venice were moved to the island of Murano to boost area trade. Glassware shops are now what it's known for. Getting to Murano from Jesolo does involve getting to Venice first. From there, either the 41 or 42 circular ferries will get you to the island within minutes.

Day 6- San Michele Cemetery Island

Not really considered a tourist attraction among Italians, the San Michele Cemetery island serves as Venice's main cemetery. Foreigners tend to find this place intriguing with touching tributes, photos and mementos left from families to their loved ones. Visitors are welcomed, but a degree of respect is expected. The San Michele Cemetery island can be reached by taking the same ferry as the island of Murano.

Day 7-Lido di Jesolo City

Once the beach and the surrounding islands have lost their appeal, checking out what is available in the town of Lido di Jesolo is worth a day. The town does have a water park for families, several aquariums and the ruins of an old church in the old town center. Depending on the time of year, puppet shows and outdoor theatrical performances are put on for tourists.
