Programme for guided bicycle tour of Pisa:

Meet your guide (mobile phone 347 7445141) in front of the Leaning Tower and visit by bicycle the amazing Piazza dei Miracoli. Your guide will tell you why the square is known all over the world as “Piazza dei Miracoli”, why the leaning tower leans and how we stopped it leaning any further; she will talk about the famous experiments of Galileo, the best known Pisan, and will reveal all the square’s secrets and curiosities, including the other leaning monuments. After that we will begin a fascinating tour through the narrow mediaeval streets of Pisa, and along the romantic banks of the River Arno.We will see important houses (the birthplace of Galileo, the houses where the English romantic poets Shelley and Byron stayed). We will visit the square which is the site of the tower in which Count Ugolino starved, as featured in Dante, and the famous Scuola Normale Superiore, the university from which Carducci, the first Italian Nobel prize winner, graduated. We will stop on the banks of the River Arno, for a photo in front of Pisa’s second leaning tower and of the leaning house of Pisa where is the historic café of Pisa dating back to the 18th century where Mazzini, Guerrazzi and other important personalities set Italian unification in motion. We will continue along the mediaeval walls, through the Fortezza Nuova, to the dockyards of this former seafaring republic.We will see the remnants of the city’s Roman baths,the Synagogue, Verdi Theatre, and many beautiful old churches and palaces.

 

The tour lasts one hour and a half and takes place every day, starting from the entrance door  to the leaning tower.
