7 Day Itinerary in Montecatini Terme
Edit ThisIf you're trying to figure out your Montecatini Terme itinerary you've found the right place. While many travelers only spend a couple of days in this Tuscan town, it is actually worth a slightly longer stay. Famous for its spas, Montecatini Terme also offers some great outdoor activities and some beautiful sights.
Day 1
Fly into Florence, Italy. Montecatini Terme doesn't have an airport, so it is impossible to fly directly in, but that is another great reason to bookend your stay in Montecatini Terme with some time in Florence. Florence is an impressive tourist destination of its own, and a great counterpoint to the relaxing spa-driven atmosphere of Montecatini Terme. Try and get an early flight in so that you can spend the afternoon exploring the historic old town of Florence before making the hour drive to Montecatini Terme.
Day 2
Montecatini Terme enjoys its reputation as a spa town because of its natural mineral hot springs, which are considered to be good for people that have stomach or liver problems. This should not be a deter those of us who are healthy from enjoying the advanced spa treatments the town has to offer. For your first day in Montecatini Terme head to the Tettucio Terme, the oldest and most famous spa in town.
Day 3
Now that you are truly relaxed you can explore the rest of the town. Montecatini Terme has some great shops and boutiques as you head towards the center of town. Because it is a fairly small town you shouldn't need to worry about driving when you are staying in town.
Day 4
Time to head out of town. There is some great hiking around Montecatini Terme, exploring the natural beauty of Tuscany. If you prefer, taking a bicycle ride is another great way to explore the trails and paths that run all around the town.
Day 5
If you're a little bit sore from the activities of the past two days, don't worry, it's time to head back to the spa. Go back to Tettucio Terme if you want, but be aware that there are some other great spas in town. Don't feel guilty about taking two spa days; after all it's what Montecatini Terme is famous for.
Day 6
Time to head back to Florence. Depending
on how you're enjoying your time in Montecatini Terme you may want to
leave earlier or later, but there is some great things to do in
Florence, including visiting museums, shopping, and seeing historic landmarks. Book
yourself into a hotel so that you'll have an easy trip to the airport
the next day. If you've still got some room left in your budget, book
dinner at Enoteca Pinchiorri, one of the most exclusive restaurants in
the city.
Day 7
Time to head for home. Pick up some gelato, or Italian ice cream, on your way to the airport. Some critics consider Florence's gelato some of the best in the world.Contributors
