The main attraction in Grosetto is Castiglione della Pescaia, a very attractive town. A few hundred houses with a few thousand inhabitants, a romantic corner of the old Maremma between the azure sea and the evergreen hills, with rocks going down to the sea and beaches bordered by thick brush and extensive pine woods, a Fishing harbour dominated by an embattled, medieval castle: this is Castigtione della Pescaia. In addition to its delightful beach, its sea and pine woods, Castiglione della Pescaia can also offer the fascination of the imposing remains of its important past.

Grosseto is the agricultural capital of the Maremma  and is known for its “Agriturismo” which basically means agricultural tourism. Organic farming is popular and here you can really get to eat delicious food. Sun ripened tomatoes, artichokes, mushrooms, spinach, olives and wild boar are all are prepared by the locals who are always happy to serve.  People in this county cook from recipes that have been passed down over many generations. In days gone by when the populace was ravaged by poverty  a ham bone was passed from family to family to add flavour to the broth. This act of allegiance shows that the clansmen cared about the well being of all the community members. Guests are considered as brothers and receive warm attention and fabulous meals.
