Spring DAnce

"Danza Primavera", is a festival of theatre, music and dance, held yearly from April till June. It springs from the growing activities of the Centro Studi Danza of Grassina, founded and directed since 1975 by Maria Grazia Nicosia, former first dancer of the Ballet Company of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino/MaggioDanza and performer in the main roles of the major ballets alongside Carla Fracci, Rudolf Nureyev, Margot Fonteyn, Vladimir Vassilev, Elisabetta Terabust, Mikhail Baryshnikov and others. The Centro Studi Danza, which is now an association, stood out from the start for its quality and reliability, especially in the choice of qualified teachers: one of the merits of the school is stimulating young people towards choreographic experimentation by offering them the wonderful stage of its venue. In fact, this stage has "launched" new choreographers and new "ensembles" that have already reached success. "Danza Primavera", has rapidly become one of the most popular and interesting events in the Italian cultural scene. Since its first edition it provides ample space for young artists with "Panorami di scuole" (Schools Overview), "Bottega coreografica" (Choreography Workshop), "Serata" (Evening); the programme of "Danza Primavera" also hosts prestigious companies and important national and international dancers, actors and musicians.
