Things to Do in Florence
Edit ThisFlorence things to do range from leisurely outdoor activities to more strenuous activities suitable for those looking for a bit of adventure. So whether you've come to Italy looking for a quiet time or an action packed holiday, you're sure to find something suitable in Florence. The things to do are nearly as incredible as the city itself.
Biking
One of the most popular outdoor activities in Florence is bicycling. You can take a bike tour in the Tuscany countryside around Florence. Things to do on your bicycle tour include a fantastic lunch, wine- and oil-tasting, and exploration of surrounding small towns. There are several bike tour operators that will arrange your transportation, bike, meals and more for a very reasonable price.
Golfing
Less strenuous but equally as engaging are the two golf courses in Florence. Golf Club Montelupo has nine holes and Golf Club Ugolino has the full 18. Both courses are incredibly picturesque and offer a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere that's sure to add to your trip, be it for business of pleasure.
Rowing and Fishing
Whether you want to take on the more active pursuit of rowing on the River Arno or simply choose to spend the days by fishing in any of the many lakes and rivers in the area, you'll surely love these Florence things-to-do. You can hire a canoe for the day and make your way along the river, or purchase a (very cheap) fishing license and try your hand at angling.
Ballooning
Considered both romantic and adventurous, you can book a tour of Florence by air in a most fantastic way: by hot air balloon. There are balloon operators throughout Tuscany, many of which are in or near Florence. Tours range from a simple excursion with no frills to a trip that includes a delicious breakfast or a champagne celebration upon touch-down.
Ice Skating
When the winter weather hits you can still enjoy outdoor activities in Florence. Winter things to do include ice skating at the Parterre Square. Indulge your inner child by renting a pair of skates and taking a turn of the rink. Special holiday celebrations on the ice skating rink include Christmas Day with Santa Claus and the New Year's Eve celebration.
So regardless of the time of year or the amount of exertion you're willing to put forth, you're sure to find something that suits your needs when looking for Florence things-to-do, be it cycling through the countryside, viewing it all from the air, or anything in between.
