Activities in Fiesole
Fiesole is a very quaint town that offers picturesque views of the surrounding hills. A visit to the 11th century Cattedrale di San Romolo is a must for its beautiful architecture. You will also get to view the age-old bell tower, which is very stunning from a distance. The Convento di san Francesco is reachable by foot. It is gothic church that houses Renaissance paintings and other artifacts from ancient times in its museum. Children will enjoy the park that lies below the convent. Older children will surely be intrigued with the Archaeology Park that displays a Roman amphitheatre, baths and temples from the 1st century BC. You can pack a picnic basket and sit down for lunch in the pretty public gardens of Fiesole.
Transport to Fiesole
Fiesole lies just an hour away from Florence. One can reach Fiesole using public transport such as a bus or train. This works out to be much cheaper and also provides you with a wonderful view along your journey. A private car can also be rented. Once in Fiesole, you won’t have a parking space problem, as there are quite a few free parking lots available. If you don't plan on renting a car and you wish you reach Fiesole by bus or train, you won't have a problem getting around within Fiesole, since the town can be explored by foot or bicycle.
