Folgaria is a charming, typically Italian town on a sunny plateau, 1168 m above sea level, above the Adige Valley with spectacular views around the Lavarone mountain range in the southern Dolomites.
With its onion domed church, shops and coffee houses, it recalls the days when South Tyrol was part of Austria.
It has all the traditional winter pursuits and always seems to have a festive, Christmassy atmosphere.
