Mazara del Vallo is a town in Western Sicily, Italy. With a population of over 50,000, it is the third-largest city in the whole province of Trapani. It is also home to Italy's largest fishing boat fleet, and is distant 30 minutes from the closest airport (Trapani-Birgi airport). It is home to the Dancing Satyr, a Greek bronze statue that was rescued from the sea by a fishing boat in 1998 and attributes by several historians to Praxiteles. Other attractions include the Norman Arc, plus a number of churches (San Nicolò Regale, Sant'Egidio) and the Arab-made old city centre, called Casbah.
