Caltabellotta is a town on a hilltop, reached by local bus from the southern town of Sciacca. It is one of the highest villages in Sicily and the road winds up the lillside and then up through the town to just below the crest. The crest itself is rugged but there is a tunnel through just below that seems to join distinct climates.
