Selinunte can be visited in a day trip from either Agrigento or Palermo though it is far better to stay at Marinella, just by it, for a night - or to stay in Castelvetrano if you want a town. You will have to change at Castelvetrano anyway if using public transport.

Selinunte site has at least as many temple ruins, some very ruined indeed, as Agrigento itself. One has been reconstructed. There is also an area occupied by the old Acropolis and, some way across the site, a necropolis.

In February the display of wild flowers is already quite something and for the size of the place there are few visitors.
