The Isola di San Pietro (Island of Saint Peter) is small island for the south-eastern coast of the island of Sardinia. Because of its open position towards the Mediteranean the coast of this island is rough with beautiful rock formations. The main and only city of the island is Carloforte , which was founded by returning Genovese from the last crusade. The island is best known for its high quality tuna. Japanese come to this island to select the Tuna directly after being taken from the water. From there there are frozen and sent by airplane to the top sushi restaurants of Tokyo . In the summer the island also attracts quite a few tourists who come there for some beautiful beaches wedges in between the beautiful rock-formations.
