History in Porto RotondoEdit This
Porto Rotondo history dates back to the early 1960s when visiting dignitaries noticed the Eden-like beauty of the surrounding areas. The attractive beaches and astounding views started to captivate visitors. It started out as resort at first and then slowly developed into a small village. The development of the village became rapid, right into the 1980s, as more and more visitors acknowledged the unique stature of the place.
It was in 1985 that the then Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi bought a villa in Porto Rotondo. He had recognized the place as a vacationer’s paradise and wanted a hideaway, particularly in that place. Eventually, TV and movie personalities bought vacation homes in the village. Eventually, the Prime Minister had even established an exclusive Yacht Club. This club boasted of members from international celebrities, and the rich and the famous. The Villas spoke of opulence and wealth.
Construction of Local Attractions
Soon after, the growth of the village boomed. Visitors came in droves during peak summer months of July to August. Visitors should not miss the intricately designed San Lorenzo Church, which was built in 1995. The construction of the popular granite Open Theater or Outdoor Amphitheater followed thereafter. Magnificent beaches sprouted to respond to the needs of a growing tourism business. Today, Porto Rotondo sits comfortably near the waterfront with its grandiose villas and luxurious vacation homes. It bears witness to the tranquility accorded to celebrities and many local and foreign tourists. They acknowledged Porto Rotondo as a visitors’ haven away from home.
