Top 5 Must Do's in Turin

with culture and history. Turin top 5 must do's include palaces, museums and
art exhibitions. This cosmopolitan city offers an abundance of
attractions which makes it popular among tourists.
The National Cinema Museum
The National Cinema Museum was founded in July 2000 and since then it has become an integral part of Turin. It is located in Mole Antonelliana which is a remarkable building that was constructed in 1888. The building was a synagogue before it came to house the National Cinema Museum. It boasts an exhibition area of 3,200 square meters and there are five floors each with a different theme. Subjects covered include the archeology of cinema and the video camera. There are also cinema posters on display and items from movie sets. Rooms showcase short films with a variety of themes including some experimental film segments. In a room named The Great Temple, Italian movies are projected onto giant screens. A range of items from the Maria Adrianna Prolo Foundation are on display, and include photographs and drawings. This attraction has something to offer for all age groups and is therefore a good family outing.
Egyptian Museum
The Egyptian museum exhibits Egyptian artifacts. It was built in 1824 by King Carlo Felice. The museum boasts 30,000 exhibits. The museum shows the progression of the Egyptian civilization over time. There are many unique collections. One of these unique collections is the Altar of Isis. There is an admission fee to the museum. The Galleria Sabauda is located by the Egyptian Museum. It showcases a variety of Italian art dating back to the 14th century. Paintings are on display by artists such as Van Dyke.
Valentino Park
Valentino Park is a located next to the Po River. The Valentino Castle and Borgo Medieval are also found in this area.
La Venaria Reale
La Venaria Reale is located 10 kms from Turin and it is worth taking the short trip to visit this attraction. It was constructed in the 17th century for Duke Carlo Emanuele II si Savoia. The building however fell to ruin and has only recently been restored. It is now an important attraction which tourists flock to. The palace has an area of 80,000 square meters.
Duomo
Duomo is an important site as it is where the holy shroud is kept. Unfortunately the shroud is not on display. There is, however, a large photograph of the shroud at the Duomo. The cathedral itself is beautiful and is a good example of Renaissance architecture.
