The city of Turin has dozens and dozens of museums, truly something for any museum lover, art or history buff or even the casual cultural observer. Turin museums include those dedicated to art and architecture, history, archaeology, mountaineering and even plastic fruit.

Those interested in museums will need to spend several days in the city just to cover one genre. The listing below is only a sample of Turin museums. In addition, there are several castles and palaces which are museums unto themselves.

History Museums

Turin museums of history include the Armory located in the Piazza Castello, the National Museum of the Italian Risorgimento and the Medieval Village in the Parco Valentino.

Less traditional museums include the Fruit Museum, displaying artificial fruit and honoring the agricultural research conducted in the city and a museum dedicated to mountains and mountaineering.

Art Museums

Turin museums of art span from the medieval era to the twentieth century. For example, the Palazzo Madama highlights the Baroque period, the Academia Albertini showcases the fifteenth to the eighteenth centuries and a new center for contemporary art focuses on the twentieth century.

Slightly out of the art mainstream include the Museum of the Decorative Arts and a museum of puppets and marionettes.

Science and Technology

For those travelers who have not yet found an interest, Turin museums also include the Museum of Cinema, the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences, the Museum of Human Anatomy, the Museum of Radio and Television, a botanical museum, the Car Museum, a railway museum and a wine museum.
