Eating Out in Milan
Edit ThisFor lunchtime it seems, that the Milan locals do not need much to be lucky, the city bursts of "paninotecas" and fast-food outlets, where they eat a quick and mostly cold lunch. But as in every Italian city dinner is the time for large meals and going out with friends. In Milan you will find a large selection of international restaurants as well as lots of marvellous "trattorie" or "ristoranti" specialized on local dishes. However, check out one of the Italian spots, where you will always find a delicious homemade meal for a fair price. Enjoy the Italian way of life (and eating), don't hesitate to ask about food, ingredients and day specials and don't forget to end you dinner with a desert and a caffé.
Milan restaurants are usually very expensive. For one complete dinner take count of at least 25€ per person, something less in pizzerias. Of course some places are a bit less expensive, but one must know where they are. To have a budget dinner avoiding international fast foods, Milan young people every evening crowdes pubs and locals for the HAPPY HOUR rite (also called "APERITIVO"). With 5-8 € in the majority of bars from usually 18:30 to 21:30 one can have a drink with an open buffet with a large variety of food. Many places offers not only pizzas and snacks, but also pasta, vegetables and sometimes meat.
City areas with higher density of such places are: corso di Porta Ticinese, Corso Como, Brera, Isola, Navigli. Duomo surroundings are poor of night life.

Joia
Edit ThisJoia is a restaurant to experience as a vegetarian. For starters the menu is complex with an array of names like 'egg apparent'. And yes its truly a good night out to put your money aside for.
It's probably the only Michelin starred (1 star) veg only restaurant in Europe. The menu is complex and priced accordingly ... the basic 5 dish set menu / degustation is 60 euro without wine rising to 100 euro for the best meal you might ever have. Wine is extra, 3 selected top quality glasses will set you back another 30 euro
The atmosphere is plain ... more more..
