Cruises in Lago Maggiore
Edit ThisLago Maggiore cruises will allow you to experience life in
and around the lakes and villages. You will choose from using
steamboat, motor ships, hydrofoils (high speed boats) and ferries during your cruise. The climate is mild in both summer and winter.
Lake Maggiore
This is the second largest lake located in the south side of the Alps. There are afternoon cruises that take 2 hours to the fascinating Eremo of Santa Caterina del Sasso and Borromeo Gulf. These are organized by the Navigazione Lago Maggiore. There also more expensive one day passes which allow you to visit various villas.
You may
also opt to take the sunset cruise along the coasts of Piedmont and
Lombardy, with a fascinating stop in front of Eremo of Santa Caterina
del Sasso. Departure is at 3:00 pm.
Lake Como
This lake, which has a surface area of 146 square kilometers, has an
inverted Y shape. Lake Como has become the obligatory stop for
travelers and writers visiting Italy. You can cruise this lake by
speed boat, steam boat or motor ship. Some vessels have music or other
shows, catering and bars on board.
Lake Garda
Situated between Lombardia, Veneto and Trentino, it is the largest lake in Italy, always a popular tourist destination. The surrounding Mediterranean
vegetation allows cultivation of oranges, lemons, cedar, olive trees
and vineyards. Charters are by motor ship, speed boat or hydrofoil. You can also have night time runs but they will cost extra. Visit the many lake towns like Desenzano where you can see several paintings (such as Giambattista Tiepolo's Last Supper) at the 16th century cathedral.
Lake Iseo
Lake Iseo is the fourth largest lake in Lombardy, Italy. It is near
the cities of Brescia and Bergamo. Areas surrounding it are of
outstanding beauty. On the Brescia side you will see the pyramids of Zone, which are very high earth needles surmounted by rocks. Cruise around by motorship or you can use the beautiful historical trains. There is also a ferryboat to Monteisola from almost all the villages.
