Things to do in Ventimiglia
Edit ThisChurches
One of the most popular things to do in any Italian town is visiting the churches. There are a few beautiful churches in Ventimiglia and you will probably need half a day to visit and enjoy the beauty of these churches. The Cattedrale dell’Assunta di Ventimiglia, Oratorio dei Neri and the San Michele Arcangelo are 3 of the most popular churches here.
Explore the Inlets
Ventimiglia is located on the Gulf of Genoa and there is a small harbor at the River Roya. You can come here and take a boat trip around the different inlets. You will be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the place in a special way. The boat ride will take you to some extraordinary places that will leave you spellbound by their sheer beauty. This will probably take some time, so plan on spending a whole day exploring the inlets.
San Remo
Located about 20 km from Ventimiglia, San Remo is popular for its flowers. The place is a small fishing village that has been transformed into a beautiful lively town. This is the best place to try some Pasta al Pesto; you will never taste it better anywhere else in Italy. Though the village is about 20 km away, it is worth the drive. Remember to take your digital camera along for some amazing pictures.
Market
The Ventimiglia market is one of the main points in town and is also the largest market in the area as well as a popular spot for tourists. You will be able to bargain at most stalls in the market. The market includes several clothing shops where you can get Polo and Lacoste shirts and t-shirts for a fraction of what you will pay elsewhere in Italy. Another popular part of the market is the leather bag section.
Cheese Shopping
You probably would never have thought of cheese shopping but Ventimiglia is a great place to shop for cheese. The Friday market will give you a chance to buy cheese at very cheap prices compared to what you will pay back home. Pick up some of your favorite cheese to take with you you on a picnic.
