Museums in Ventimiglia

museums to explore. Girolamo Rossi and Balzi Rossi Caves are the most famous
ones.
Girolamo Rossi Museum
Located in Via Verdi, Girolamo Rossi museum has many ancient Roman
Albitimillium archeological items on display. Known as G.
Rossi for short, this museum of Ventimiglia has sculptures of the Imperial era, clay
statues, tablets, glass, ceramic items and tomb stones ranging from the 1st to 7th
century. On the terrace level, there is a nice “Via Lulia Augusta”
exhibition section. This museum is closed on Mondays and opens from 9
am to 12:30 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm on other days. Sunday starting time is
10 am, and entry cost is 2.5 Euro. It may cost less with some tour
packages.
Balzi Rossi Caves Museum
Balzi Rossi Caves, i.e., Museo dei Balzi Rossi Museum, is situated on Via Balzi Rossa in Ventimiglia. It has historical items and archaeological artifacts from the Paleolithic to the Roman era of Ventimiglia to exhibit. Also known as Red Rocks Museum, it houses beautiful rock caves. Skeletons can be found inside that date back to Homo Cro-Magnons who lived in these caves. Priced at 2 Euro, this museum is closed on Mondays. Opening hours are from 9 am to 1 pm and 2:30 pm to 6 pm. 50% discount is given to people age 19 to 26, and entry is free for senior over 65 and youngsters below 18.
Ventimiglia has another museum called the Museum of Regional Prehistory, located in Rue Loredan Larchey. Entry is free.
