Enjoy Your Vacation in Sestri Levante

Hopefully the following Sestri Levante Practical Information will help you know more about this place as you plan a vacation here. Sestri Levante is a small town in Liguria, Italy. This town has become a popular tourist destination for many looking for an excellent vacation on the beach.

Population

Sestri Levante is home to almost 19 000 residents and has a population density of approximately 500 people per square km which, although a small number, makes it one of the most densely-populated settlements in the Liguria province. Of course, the population grows with tourists coming into town in the summer. However, including the tourists, over 95 percent of the people here are Italian.

Language

The most spoken language, both by tourists and locals, is Italian. You don’t have to worry about language barriers as long as your visit is during the main tourist season. You can easily communicate with the staff at hotels and restaurants in English or French. In the rest of the year, you may in fact need to learn some Italian. If you like you can pick up an Italian dictionary and learn a few words that can help you.

Currency

The currency used here is the euro (€), with €1 being roughly equal to $1.20. Although you can exchange money in local change bureaus, it’s a much better idea to do that at banks in the major cities. They give better exchange rates, with the difference sometimes reaching up to 5 percent compared to the exchange bureaus.
