Day Trips in Sestri Levante

Edit This

Just about the whole coast of Liguria is worth visiting, but if you’re based in Sestri Levante, days trips will expose you to some of the region's best slights. Train travel is extremely convenient and I highly recommend over driving a car because it will save you the hassle of having to search for difficult parking everywhere you go.

Genova

Genova is the capitol of the Liguria region and holds a long history. It’s nice to visit the city and its churches, plazas and historical buildings. The Genova aquarium is wonderful. It attracts visitors all year round and is a must if you are visiting Genova. There is also a "pirate ship" that is open for visits.

Camogli

Camogli is a small town about a half hour West of Genova. It’s very picturesque and full of the pleasantries of life: good food, nice walks and leisure filled afternoons accompanied by wine and drinks. There are nice shops and a couple art galleries. From Camogli, you can reach S. Rocco, and from there begin a walk through the woods which leads to S. Fruttuoso, where there is a nice bay and an underwater statue of Christ. There are several paths to choose from depending on your ability. Some are easy and some are cold sweat dangerous. The paths continue on to Portofino. There is also a ferry that connects the three above mentioned ports.

Portofino

Portofino is probably the most famous spot in Liguria. It’s small and very expensive. If you go during the summer, it will be over crowded as well.
