Vendone Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeAn extensive municipality in the valley of the
Arroscia, on the southern slopes of
Castell’Ermo (1092 meters or 3583 feet). In the
Middle Ages it had its own lords, subject to the
jurisdiction of the commune of Albenga. A
partial fief of the marchesi di Clavesana, it was
ceded in the first decade of the fourteenth
century to the commune of Albenga, eventually
passing with it to the republic of Genoa. In the hamlet of Castellaro it is possible to see the
ruins of the imposing castle of the Clavesana,
with its well-preserved hexagonal tower. A
series of fortified houses stand high above the
river at Curenna. It is an attractive place for
excursions, among the olive groves, in the
direction of the Savonese Alps.
