Nightlife and Entertainment in Genoa
Edit ThisJust like any other large Italian city, the Genoa nightlife is bustling. A trip to Genoa would not be complete unless you strolled out onto the streets and alleyways to witness the happy and carefree way these people party. During the week, the people tend to go to the more up-scale wine shops and be a bit more mellow. However, starting on Friday night, the action starts to happen and all restraints are let loose. Of course, not all of Genoa's nightlife centers around bars and clubs; there are some other fine activities to get involved in like a theater or two.
Theaters and Games
If you are not into the drinking and partying scene, there are two very entertaining places where buying tickets gets you a night of having a great time. One is to purchase tickets at the Stadio Luigi Ferrari and check out Genoa's football team. They have been playing in this stadium since 1911. You can cheer on the team with the other 36,000 people seated here. Another very nice place to go is the Teatro Carlo Felice, which is a restored theater that has classical music, opera and ballet presentations. Some of the more predominate conductors have played here throughout the years.
Hemingway's Bar
This establishment in the historic district has a great atmosphere for those who like to party. The bar is well known by the locals for its fabulous rum and potent cigars. It is a common drinking hole for the Genoa football players and other TV personages. Hemingway's also has a decent group of outside tables so you can get a drink then watch the Italians walk on by.
La Goletta
Out on the waterfront located at the yacht docking marina is where this high-end club is located. Here, the average person can come in and swap tales of traveling the high seas with 'around the world' yachters. It is a great place to sit back and enjoy some seafaring stories. The front of the bar gives you a fantastic view of the sea at sunset.
DFC and Coccodrillo
These are two disco bars that are packed with the more younger rowdy crowd. You can find them in the historic district where most of the live music clubs are rocking in Genoa. Unlike most clubs whose cool reputation seems to flow from month to month, these two establishments are always constantly filled on the weekends with people ready to party.
