Cruises in Genoa
Edit ThisThere's barely enough space in the largest book in the world to go into all the various sights and attractions one could visit while on Genoa cruises. However, this brief article will advise you on some great ideas for shore excursions and seaside visits.
Acquario
A great activity on the waterside, this giant aquarium boasts of over 500 different species of sea creatures frolicking in 6 million liters of water. You can even take a barge through a special exhibition called "The Age of Discovery" and enjoy a mock-up Madagascan rainforest. This is truly fun for the whole family.
Chiesa del Gesu
If you want to experience something a little more cultural on your Genoa cruises, try this 16th century monument built on the foundations of a church dating back even further to the Middle Ages. Hanging over the main altar is Rubens' classic artwork "Circoncisione," and his "Miracoli di San Ignazio" can be located in a small side chapel.
Galata Museo del Mare
Genoa's seafaring history is beautifully and expertly captured by this hi-tech museum that offers exhibits dating back to the ages of sail and steam as well as to the technological present-day of sea transport.
Cattedrale di San Lorenzo
It's definitely worth going ashore for this, the most famous religious monument in Genoa. The Catetdrale di San Lorenzo presents a gorgeous black and white marble exterior and is completed with grandiose columns and crouching lions. It was first consecrated back in 1118, and bell towers and a cupola were added over 500 years later.
