Beaches in Genoa
Edit ThisListed are a few of the Genoa Beaches that are most popular with visitors. The seaport of Genoa is nestled between the Apennine Mountains and the Ligurian Sea and was the very first port of the country of Italy. It's a bustling city with almost 1.5 million inhabitants in the total metropolitan area (city and urban surrounding). The weather in Genoa is considered a warm Mediterranean, but with oceanic effects including cooling breezes. Genoa is considered to be part of the Italian Riviera which boasts several resort areas and wide sandy beaches.
Vesima Beach
Vesima is a newly opened beach in Genoa that welcomes not only people, but their pets as well. This is the first public animal beach; all others in the area are private. So, you can bring your dog, cat or other animals here to play in the sun and water. There are on-site veterinary services if they're needed, pools for dogs, organic snacks and more. Forgot your tools to clean up after your animals? There's no worries, as Vesima provides all of that for you too. This beach is in its experimental stages, and if all goes well, the city of Genoa hopes to open more beaches like this one.
Moneglia Beaches
Moneglia is a commune in the Province of Genoa, just thirty miles south of Genoa. There is a large tourist resort here and Moneglia Beach is part of the Italian Riviera section known as the Riviera di Levante. Moneglia Beaches are surrounded on both sides by by cliffs where the castles of Monleone and Villafranca still stand. The area here has a mild climate, and the surrounding hills are filled with olive groves and woods.
Cavi di Lavagna Beaches
One of the most famous beach resort areas in the Province of Genoa, the Cavi di Lavagna Beaches are blue flag award winners for being the cleanest, most beautiful and family friendly. There is 2.5 miles of wide beachfront and makes for a glorious walk by the sea plus hours of safe play for your kids.
Chiavari Beaches
The town of Chiavari is part of the Province of Genoa sitting near the mouth of the Entella River on one side of the city and the Mediterranean Sea surrounding it to the southwest. The beaches in Chiavari are award winners as well (Blue Flag for clean waters since the mid 1980's) for their pristine waters and beach-fronts. Chiavari features a large shipyard in its harbor, as well as multiple castles and mansions that sit on the surrounding hillsides overlooking the sea below.
