Edit This
There are many interesting things to do which are quite nearby. Go to see the Roman ruins of LUNI with its coloseum in white marble, vist The Cinque Terre, and see the marble quarries in the Apuan Alps where Michelangelo got the marble for his statues and sculptures.

Luni - Roman Ruins

Edit This

During the time of the Romans, the city of Luni was a port because the sea once arrived further inland. At Luni, in the municipality of Ortonovo, there are archeological ruins, a museum and an amphitheater which was all covered in white marble. Hannibal marched his army through here around 200 BC. The Vikings mistook it for Rome.

From Via Litoranea (SP 432) which is the main road that goes along the sandy coastline, look for the turn off for Luni and go toward the north (you can't go south because that's where the sea is!) The turn off and the more..
