Museums in Udine
Edit ThisVisitors to Udine, in the Fruili-Venezia Giulia region of Italy, will not be disappointed by the many Udine museums that speak of the region’s past as well as of its cultural achievements. Whether you're interested in paintings or earthenware, visitors will be enthralled by the extent of content that this city in the northeastern part of Italy has accumulated. From its Archaeological Museum that details the history of the area to the Ancient Art Museum with its wonderful collection of local as well as classic Italian painters, the visitor will come away with a new sense of what makes Udine unique.
Udine Museums
Other museums include the Museum of Photography as well as the Museum of Modern Art, the Friuli Museum of Folkloristic Peasant Traditions and Art and the Natural History Museum. And of course the majestic Civic Museum, which is dedicated to archaeology and is located in the Castle of Udine, sits on a hill overlooking the city. There you can also find works by Carpaccio, Tiepolo, Piazzetta and Caravaggio. In addition, there are vestiges of ancient Romans buildings in nearby Aquileia, an architectural center.
Nearby Museums
While visiting Udine, why not take in other museums in the area, such as the Paleochristian Museum and Archaeological Museum also both in Aquileia. Another spot to visit for its many museums is Venice, which is only a bit over 50 miles away and features a huge number of art museums as well as unique architecture, canals and marvelous churches that are not found any where else in the entire world.
