Getting There in Udine

Edit This

Udine is located in northeastern Italy between the Adriatic sea and the Alps, about a 40 kilometer ride from the Italian border with Slovenia.

Getting There by Plane

When booking your flight to Udine, you have three airports to choose from: the Trieste airport (IATA code: TRS), the Venice Airport (IATA code: VCE) and the Treviso airport (IATA code: TSF). Most international travelers will choose either the Trieste or Venice airports, however if you are traveling from within Europe you should look into using the Treviso airport (a secondary airport to the city of Venice) because you will be able to score greater saving by using discount carriers such as Ryan Air, Transavia and German Wings. If you're planning to use discount carriers, make sure to book your reservation with at least a week in advance to guarantee the lowest possible fares. From the Treviso airport you will be able to take a train straight to the city of Udine. The train ride is less than an hour.

Getting There by Car

To rent a car in Italy you must be at least 18 years old. Some car rental agencies will require you to have a driver's license for at least either 1 year or 3 years. Before traveling to Italy, it is a good idea to get an international driver's license at your country of origin because it will save you time in booking a car. From the south and northwest of Italy, take the A4 highway in direction of Venice. Once you arrive to Palmanova, you will merge ino the A23/SS13 road heading north towards Udine. If driving is not your cup of tea, you can always travel by rail any city or town in Italy to Udine.
