Edit ThisThe Italian town of Udine makes visitors welcome from all walks of
life. Young and old, singles and families can all enjoy this beautiful
northern Italian town. Udine Family Travel opportunities are plentiful
with accommodation, activities and restaurants suited for parties with
children.
Palazzo D' Aronoco
One of the first things families
want to know upon arriving in Udine is what activities they can do with
their children. Udine isn't a resort town like many other small Italian
towns, but offers as much in culture and learning opportunities as towns
twice its size. The Palazzo D'Aronoco is an excellent place for people
of all ages to enjoy. The Palazzo offers the perfect opportunity to see
real Venetian architecture at its best. The Palazzo is loaded with
various shops and cafes where you can rest, sip coffee and taste some
Italian gelato as the world walks by. The Palazzo D'Aronoco is the
perfect place for a family to spend an afternoon.
Cividale del Friuli
Just east of Udine lies the historical
village of Cividale del Friuli. The village is packed full of
historical sites, many of which are free to view. The Lombard temple,
the former residence of the Lombard kings, lies in this quaint and
picturesque town. The story of The Devil's Bridge is one that will
intrigue young minds. According to legend, the bridge was built by the devil
himself, who in exchange for his work wanted the soul of the first
person who crossed the bridge. Local residents supposedly beat the
devil by sending an animal across. By all accounts, the bridge is now
safe to cross without offerings. Cividale del Friuli is packed full of
wonderful sights and is eye pleasing with its charming medieval
construction. Adults and children will surely love a trip through this
historical town.
Theaters
For a true taste of Italian culture, why not treat
your family to a night at the opera? In Udine, it's simple, being that
there are 8 fully functioning theaters, all equipped for this purpose.
Visitors are advised to phone the theaters ahead of time for
performance schedules and ticket prices.
Museums
For another look at local culture, Udine has 7 different museums - all full of local relics, works of art and objects of historical significance. 5 of the 7 museums have an archaeological theme, but also carry a mix of art and historical displays.
