Eating Out in Udine
Edit ThisThe lovely city of Udine provides several places to sample fine Italian cuisine. Udine restaurants have a reputation for flavorful food and good value for money. Travelers' budgets tend to go much further in Udine than in the bigger cities such as Milan or Venice, without sacrificing quality.
Campana d'oro
For travelers on a budget, the Campana d'Oro restaurant comes highly recommended. Those on a budget will not feel as if they are, because the portion sizes are absolutely huge. The menu is traditional and simple but no less delicious. 1 plate of Pasta is said to be enough to feed 2 or 3 people. Campana d'Oro also has an excellent selection of local wines to keep the ambiance of the meal free flowing. A good sized meal that will fill you up for the remainder of the day should cost between 11 and 19 euros.
Ai Frattie Ristorante
Slightly more expensive than the budget line of restaurants, but high quality. Ai Fratti capitalizes on the main local staple of Udine, meaning most of the main dishes will be rice based and not pasta. Sauteed mushrooms and a wide array of cured meats are also among some of their favorite selections. Ai Fratti treats their guests with large portion sizes and a varied wine list. A typical meal will cost between 20 and 30 euros, but the quality more than makes up for the extra in price.
Hosteria Alte Fritte
This restaurant is more moderately priced but it's well worth it. The best day to visit is on Friday, where Hosteris Alte Fritte features a certain type of food. The concept is quite original for the region, and the food of the highest quality. A well rounded wine list with local and national brands makes for the perfect meal. Lunches and dinners typically range between 30 and 40 euros.
Trattoria del Paradiso
An excellent representation of local and national cuisine, try the Trattoria al Paradiso. Everything from pastas to traditional Italian pizzas are available. The food is delicious and the atmosphere relaxed. Trattoria al Paradiso is reasonably priced, with a meal costing typically between 15 and 25 euros.
