I Malardot

Edit This
Authentic Italian osteria. Serves traditional home-made pastas, utilising fresh ingredients and cooked up to order: fantastic bowl of classic pasta e fagioli (creamy pasta and beans), tagliatelle ai porcini, excellent stuffed pastas: tortelloni made of chickpeas in rosemary sauce, ravioli with artichokes topped with fossa cheese. Fossa cheese literally means “cheese of the pit", hailed as the Millenium Cheese of Italy. Fossa has an intense and somewhat piquant flavor that makes it excellent grated over pasta! The main courses include baccala (salt cod), oven-baked rabbit with wild fennel, cured ham and rosemary ("in porchetta"), all served with huge portions of oven-roasted potatoes and stewed baby zucchini, cotechino (traditional Italian garlicky fresh pork sausage) accompanied with brown lentils. The specials are usually worth a look too, featuring whatever's in season. All this combined with crisp local wine, friendly, attentive service and enjoyable environment. Booking is advised.
