Day Trips in Naples

Edit This

Spending time in Naples can only be enriched by going on Naples day trips. Set aside a day or two in your travel itinerary and head for one of these locations (and be back in the same day!):

Rome

The most populated city and the nation's capital that is rich in history is a mere day trip from Naples. You can drive the 140 or so miles northwest in about two and a half hours or, much more conveniently, you can hop on a train from Napoli Centrale to Roma Termini that takes slightly less time for US$30 each way. Take the express and be there in only about 70 minutes for US$60 each way!

While in Rome, you can shop, tour and dine at some of the world's most famous destinations. See the Vatican Museums, the Villa Borghese, the Piazza di Spagna, the Colleseum and St. Peter's Basilica, to name a few. Take home designer clothes and try the offerings of world-class chefs in the city that over two million residents call home.

Bari

Since you'll be in the south of Italy, you may as well visit the other great economical force in the South, Bari, during your trip to Naples. With a short connection, you can get to Bari from Naples by train in about three and a half hours for about US$39 each way. Or you can drive the 165 miles east yourself and get there in just about three hours.

Bari is home to two picturesque harbors as well as stunning architecture, both classic and modern. See the Basilica of St. Nicholas, the Bari Cathedral, Swabian Castle and the Russian Church, to name a few tourist highlights.
