Beaches in Naples
Edit This
The Italian city of Naples is the third largest in the entire country of Italy. It's considered to be an exciting port and many cruise lines stop here during their voyage. Naples is also well known for being the birthplace of one of the world's favorite foods - pizza. The city has many areas of attraction, including Naples Beaches which are not always well known, but still beautiful little hideaways to explore. Whether you're stopping in port briefly, or spending your entire vacation here, Naples is a fascinating place with many sights to see, and perfect for romantics too.
Beaches in Naples
You'll find many smaller, yet nice sandy beaches in the heart of Naples. One is in the area known as Posillipo which contains many outdoor swimming pools located near the water's edge. So if you don't wish to take a dip in the sea, opt for a nearby 'lido' as they are more commonly referred to. A couple of the other nearby beaches will have to be traveled to by rail (the easiest and fastest way of travel). One is the Meta di Sorrento beach, which is part of the Sorrentine Peninsula; another is Monte di Procida beach at Pozzuoli. Either beach is a short distance away from heart of the city of Naples and easily accessible.
Gulf of Naples
Surrounding the city of Naples is a body of water called the Gulf of Naples, and within this region, there are many beautiful island paradises containing some of the best beaches in the area. The volcanic island of Ischia offers twenty-one miles of coastline and beaches like Maronti Beach and English's Beach. There's also the Island of Capri which has been a resort area since Roman times. Located here you'll find Marina Piccola, a jaw-dropping beach with a view of the captivating rocks of Capri, including what's known as the legendary Mermaids Rock made famous by the tales of Ulysses.
Amalfi Coast
If you're looking to visit the Gulf of Naples islands or the Amalfi coast, there are frequent ferries that leave Naples harbors to reach all island destinations as well as Sorrento, yet another beautiful coastal town just south of Naples. It's just one of approximately thirty coastal towns and villages of the area offering amazing beaches. With its rocky cliffs and turquoise waters, it’s no wonder visitors flock here every year just to catch a glimpses of the surrounding area and astonishing sunsets.
