Gioia Tauro is not a fad; Like mythological cities of the past, it does not let go of those who see it. Its sea, its shores, its history, its inhabitants form a whole, influencing travelers and rendering their life experience… utterly blissful.

For the traveler that yearns for the off the beaten path of the unexplored village, we believe Gioia Tauro represents much of what is valuable about this region of Calabria. Kind people, wonderful food, and the vast history that lies dormant in its tiny twisting streets.

Once the hot summer months of July & August pass, with northern Italian vacationers long gone, it gladly returns to it's more quiet nature...although the Gioia Tauro Porto never let’s things remain too quiet.

The Porto actually has kept Gioia Tauro thriving. They have a wonderful relationship with the Porto and we believe it keeps their civic leaders fresh and enthusiastic.

The Gioia Tauro Porto also brings a lot of $$ to the town that no doubt brings many improvements to the town. However, improvements in Calabria can be very slow…which explains the reason why it’s the final frontier of Italian tourism.

Exceptional beauty, no, Gioia Tauro doesn't really hold a candle to many more picturesque towns. But it does have a certain “presence”. Our love of Gioia Tauro lies in it's people and yet these wonderful Calabrian qualities can be found in numerous places...one just needs to slow down and let life happen...Open your own door, rather that running past all the closed ones on your way to the next museum.

Gioia Tauro is not only a town by the sea, but a way of life, a love. Gioia Tauro charms anyone who goes there with the color of its sea, the greens of its shores and the warmth of its inhabitants. It is a place that has a miraculously positive and uplifting effect on those who are struggling with the constant demands of everyday life. From artists to businessmen, Italians to Americans, Germans and other Europeans, this Tyrrhenian and Mediterranean part of Italy is for not for ‘everyone’ but for those who come from cold, or warm lands… all have undergone an invigorating metamorphosis when staying … in Gioia Tauro.
