Festivals in Ireland
Edit ThisDiscover Ireland Festivals
Ireland festivals help you to understand the cultural influences prevalent in Ireland, one of the largest island nations in Europe. The most widely celebrated festival in Ireland is the Belfast Festival.
Belfast Festival OverviewThis festival is held in the second week of October, usually scheduled around October 16. The festivities are spread over a period of two weeks. The festival is essentially a celebration of various arts, both classic and contemporary. The festival aims to bring together the best of art from across the world. The festival is hosted at the Queen’s University in Belfast.
Belfast Festival OfferingsVisitors can explore theater and dance workshops hosted by globally renowned groups or join classical music classes. The festival includes a heavy dose of literature events, and book reading and discussions are the most favored activities. During the evenings, comedy acts and folk music celebrations are held. Visitors can participate in the walking tours of the Festival House. The festival has special events themed for both children and adults.
LogisticsMost of the events at the festival require a ticket, but there are some free entries. Some discounts are based on the timings of the shows. For instance, art shows beginning early in the day are heavily discounted.
Queen’s University is easily accessible from all the major local train stations in Belfast. This includes the Great Victoria Street, Botanic and Belfast Central stations. From the station, the venue is located within a walking distance. Visitors are requested to seek tickets early to ensure their space.
