The Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art was the first public Gallery of modern art in these islands. The Gallery opened in 1908 with a considerable collection of works by Irish and continental artists, including the Impressionists.
In 1993, the collection moved to its present location in the 18th century Charlemont House, Parnell Square, where it has built up the most representative collection of 20th century Irish art, including contemporary art, as well as a comprehensive range of international artworks. The Stained Glass room contains famous works by Harry Clarke, Wilhelmina Geddes, Evie Hone and James Scanlon.
Opening Hours:
Tuesday to Thursday 9.30am - 6.00pm
Friday & Saturday 9.30am to 5.00pm
Sunday 11.00am to 5.00pm.
Closed Mondays.
Late opening Thursdays to 8.00pm April to August only.
