Thingvellir national park Travel Guide

The "plains of parliament" are located on the continental divide (where the European and North American plates are separating. It's a protected area and one of Iceland's national parks that is significant not just for its geologic features, but more importantly it's the site of the the world's earliest parliament (AD930) known as the Alþing.
