Höfn, Iceland is a beautiful fishing town. The population is small, just around 2,000, which means it is uncrowded and practically untouched by foreign cultures. Have no fear, though-Icelanders are known for their kindness and hospitality. The town is located on the southeastern part of the island, whereas Reykjavik is located in the southwest. Less than 4 miles outside of Höfn, you will find Hótel Árnanes. Hótel Höfn is  one of the best accommodations for the price in the area. It is located in the center of the town overlooking some of the great things Iceland has to offer-glaciers and mountains. Their restaurant offers both local and international cuisine, even pizza! There are 68 rooms all with modern amenities such as internet, television and radio. There are 5 types of rooms from single rooms to family rooms. Each has a private bathroom and a delicious Icelandic breakfast is included in the price. With this hotel, prices are the same year-round, starting at $137 per night.

Luxury Vactioner

Just a few minutes by car outside of Höft sits Fosshótel Vatnajökull. Vatnajökull itself (not the hotel) is the largest glacier in both Iceland and Europe.  22 single rooms and 4 double and triple rooms are available. There are numerous things to do from this location, including an array of outdoor activities from hiking to taking a superjeep tour of the glacier. Prices start at $270 per night and this includes your own private restroom. A large breakfast is included in the nightly fee and there are places on the Fosshótel website that you can find great deals. Since it is more logical to fly to Höfn from Reykjavik than drive, it is usually a combined air and hotel package.
