You can rent a car and drive there from Akureyri. You can also (and I recommend this one) get there by going on a 9 hours long sight-seeing trip with The Icelandic Bus Company. Then you can also see other beautiful places such as Goðafoss, a historical waterfall connected with the freedom of Iceland from Norway.

 Of course, you have to fly to Iceland first, if you live somewhere else.
