Getting There in Szentendre

By HÉV:The suburban train (HÉV) from Budapest will take you from Batthyány tér to Szentendre in 45 minutes. Trains marked 'Szentendre' run every 10 to 30 minutes from 03:50 to 23:40. Tickets (500 Ft) are available at the ticket window. To get into town from the Szentendre HÉV station, keep going in the direction the train is pointed, through the underpass and straight ahead. By boat: A boat leaves the Budapest station at Vigadó tér each morning at 09:00, arriving in Szentendre at 10:40. A return boat leaves Szentendre at 17:15 and arrives at Vigadó tér at 18:30. Boats usually run until mid-October. The price is 650 Ft one way or 900 Ft return, payable in the boat station. When you arrive at the Szentendre station, head inland, then left down Czóbel sétány to Duna korzó (confused? Just follow everyone else!) The cobblestoned city center lies about 1 km away. By car: Szentendre is about 30 minutes north of Budapest. Take Route 11 (in Buda) along the Danube.

By bus: Volánbusz buses go from Árpád híd bus station in Budapest to Szentendre with varying frequency (20 minutes to 1 hour) between 04:30 and 21:40 each day. They arrive at Platform 5 of the Szentendre bus station, which sits right next to the HÉV (suburban train) station. The trip is 30 minutes. Tickets (164 Ft) can be purchased on the bus.
