Accommodation in Volos
Edit This
Volos is a Greek city of more than 70,000 people, situated at the very base of the Pelion peninsula. It is virtually midway between the country’s two most important cities: Athens and Thessaloniki. It is the region’s main port for the Greek exporting industry. Volos is an active town with a bustling harbor full of coffeehouses, sweet shops, and restaurants. Shoppers can also enjoy browsing or buying in the many little neighborhood stores here. Tourist attractions include the Volos Archaeological Museum and the exhibitions of contemporary Greek art mounted in the Municipal Gallery which is located in the Volos Town Hall. Area recreational activities include sailing, diving, windsurfing, and kite surfing. The region is also renowned for its stunning beaches, some crowded and others delightfully deserted. While it is not a venue for nightlife, it has a number of good dining places. Be sure to try the Ortansies restaurant on Mount Pelion for excellent local cuisine. Accommodations in the Pelion region can be found in both its old stone-built villages and in its resorts along the shore. There are rooms, studios, apartments, and private homes to rent.
