Senior Travel in Stoupa
Edit ThisSenior Travelers are Welcome in Stoupa
There are some great Stoupa senior travel possibilities, for seniors who want to have a nice and relaxing holiday near lovely secluded beaches. Here is what you should know if you want to experience a perfect senior holiday trip.
When to Go
The good thing about Stoupa is that it is generally a very calm and peaceful place for a summer holiday. This excludes late July and the whole of August, when the village gets overcrowded with tourists from all over Greece. Seniors should consider visiting Stoupa either in May, or in September. Not only the prices are at their lowest, but also the tourists are at a minimum, so the place is tranquil. The weather is also very pleasant, with the days being warm, but not too hot, compared to the peak tourist months.
Where to Stay
Various accommodation options are offered within Stoupa. This includes apartments, villas and hotels, and there is even opportunity for camping. For seniors, it is best to stay at one of the hotels, since they have attentive staff working in them and you can ask for help whenever you need some. In addition the hotels are small and serene, rated with 3 stars and equipped with all extras. The prices are about $70 per night, so consider if that fits to your budget.
Leisure Activities
Stoupa has a couple of excellent beaches, which are perfect for sunbathing, swimming or relaxation. You might prefer visiting the Stoupa Beach, instead of the Kagloria Beach, since the latter is a bit wilder and the nearby camping might disturb your peace. Except for these beach activities, you can take some nice day trips to the nearby settlements of Agios Nikolaos (a lovely fishing village popular for its 7th century chapel) or Kardamili (a picturesque village with medieval architecture).
Eating Out
If you want to get the best of the local cuisine, you should definitely sit at one of the restaurants near the beach line. There are about 20 in total, and all of them prepare excellent Greek food, while retaining their unique atmosphere. You should definitely try the soulvaki (small pieces of meat and vegetables grilled on a skewer and bread), which is the local delicacy.
Transportation
A good thing about the local transportation is that seniors can hire private taxis. Those are cars with local drivers, who take special care for their passengers and know the area really well. A private taxi will surely save you from the discomfort of using public transport.
