The forest of Lailia

The forest of Lailia is one of spectacular natural beauty. It is very close to the city of Serres (25 km). Extremely tall trees, deep ravines, precipitous rocks are its main characteristics. The forest of Lailia gives shelter to a variety of wild animals and rare species of birds. There are a few brown bears, roebucks, vultures, wild turkeys and partridges. During the winter the forest acquires an alpine magnificence as it is covered with snow and it attracts a lot of Greek climbers and nature lovers.

The skiing resort is situated in the forest at an altitude of 1600 meters. It is 27 km from the city of Serres and it has a skiing space 1000 meters long and 70 meters wide and a ski lift 850 meters long which can carry 700 people per hour.
