Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeKalloni is quiet market town about 40km west of
Mytilini, it is on the intersection of most of the island’s bus routes and is well supplied with banks and cash machines. The beach resort of Skala Kalloni is about 3km south of the old town. The long, coarse sand beach is gently shelving and is therefore suitable for families.
The main sight is the Limonos Monastery, some 7km away which was founded by St Ignatios in 1526. The huge fortress-like structure contains more than 40 churches. Other attractions include the Temple of Aphrodite at Mesi, about 14km east of Skala Kalloni and the natural hot water springs at Polychnitos on the southern end of the Gulf of Kalloni.
