Enjoy a Trip to the Beautiful Island of Thassos

The most attractive of all Kavala Day Trips is by no doubt the day trip to the beautiful island of Thassos. The island is easily reachable by water, with ferry trips to the village of Prinos available daily at the Kavala harbor. The distance from Kavala to Prinos is roughly 20km and each ferry trip lasts no more than 90 minutes. Two major companies operate the local ferry lines – NEK and ANETH. Their prices are usually equal – $3 for children, $6 for adults and seniors, $25 for small cars and $30 for large cars.

Leisure Activities

Once in Prinos, you can take advantage of its lovely long stretch of fine white sand, surrounded by beautiful pine trees and crystal waters. The beach is excellent for sunbathing and especially suitable for families with kids, since the waters are very shallow. You should definitely check the Prinos Monday Market – a place where you can find everything you may think of, from fruits and vegetables to clothes and household items. You should also visit the lovely old Byzantine church.

Practical Information

It is good to know that there is no bank in Prinos, so if you want to change your money you need to visit their post office, which is located right in the centre of the village. Also, if you decide to rent a motorcycle, don’t forget to put your helmet on, since there are serious fines.
