1. A Visit to History
You should absolutely make it a point to visit Dion. This is an ancient city which dates to 500 years before Christ. It is just about 17 km (10 miles) away. Dion is actually known to be the first Greek Macedonian city.

Mount Olympus, the abode of the gods, is just about 20 km away near the town of Litochoro. The village itself is a small resort near the sea and you will find the people warm and welcoming. You can even try some mountain climbing.

If you do not know how to scuba dive, this is the place to get started, with easy depths and currents. If you are not into scuba diving, you can try water skiing.

Even if you are not one to go into the water, there are beach bars where you can really let your hair down and have some serious fun. You can shop from various vendors on the beach and buy items from simple paintings to artificial tattoos.
5. Shopping on the Pisodromo
Katerini is famous for dried nuts like hazelnuts, almonds and pistachios. Ask for Avakian products, as they are the best known producers of dried nuts in Katerini. Katerini is also famous for its leather goods. You should make it a point to visit the Leather Centro where you can get some real bargains on leather goods.
